The mission of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is to provide quality public based upon high ethical and professional standards. This mission is attained through a sincere commitment to public service. It includes preserving the peace and order of the agency service area, protecting life and property, preventing crime, apprehending criminals, recovering lost and stolen property, and enforcing laws fairly and impartially through conflict management and proactive enforcement techniques. The officers are committed to the rule of law and have a unique authority to investigate, arrest, search, seize, and use force as deemed reasonably necessary. It includes being both responsive and responsible to the public we serve. Our mission is public service, and we are proud of it.
Our mission is profound because of its breadth, significance, and complexity. It is a diverse service, not a specific product producer. While other public and private organizations exist to protect life and property, they do not have the unique authority that law enforcement officers have to carry out the enforcement function, which is explicit and implicit in the statutory definitions of peace officer, police officer, and law enforcement officer.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of officers who share a common belief and goal to provide the most progressive and professional services possible to the public. To achieve this, we must accept and adhere to basic values that are vital part of the Sheriff’s Office and give us the spirit and direction to achieve our goals.
